BIOCARBON® Tablets
The active substance contained in BIOCARBON® is pure activated charcoal
What is ACTIVATED CHARCOAL?
Activated charcoal (= activated carbon) is made from plant material such as
wood or cellulose. The source is carbonised at extremely high temperatures (600-900°C)
together with steam.
As a result of this carbonising process the surface of the active carbon becomes
much larger through formation of small pores.
After having been treated, one gram of active carbon has a surface area of
approximately 2000 m², which is equalent to the total area of more than 8 tennis
courts.
How does ACTIVE CHARCOAL act?
Via its large surface area, active charcoal rapdidly adsorbs numerous toxins
and viruses as well as bacteria and their metabolites in the human digestive
tract and removes contaminants naturally.
Where does BIOCARBON® act?
BIOCARBON® helps in cases of diarrhoea and acute poisoning.
Acute and usually virus-induced diarrhoea also occurs frequently in our latitudes,
particularly in the warmer seasons. For the continuously increasing number of
people going on holiday to tropical and subtropical countries, a change of diet
is necessary, and this, along with increased risk of poor hygiene, encourages
diarrhoea. Complaints can range from acute, but however harmless, enteritits
to severe diarrhoea combined with considerable fluid loss.
- BIOCARBON® (=active carbon) rapidly binds toxins and so restores bowel
function to normal. At the same time,
- BIOCARBON® also binds accumulated
air or other gases in the digestive tract.
Any existing irritant effect in the gastro-intestinal tract is reduced and
diarrhoea is stopped within a short period of time.
Due to its properties BIOCARBON® also plays an important role in the emergency
treatment of cases of poisoning.
BIOCARBON® should always be in the medicine cabinet and should never be
missing on holiday.
What must the patient pay attention to?
Should the complaints not disappear rapidly after taking BIOCARBON®, medical
assistance should be sought at all events. In the case of persistent diarrhoea,
emergencies or increased abdominal pain, a doctor should be notified or consulted.
Further information as well as information on the correct dose can be found
in the patient information leaflet.
Attention!
Active carbon can reduce the effect of medicaments through its high activity.
Therefore, please read the patient information leaflet carefully before taking
BIOCARBON® or ask your doctor or pharmacist.
BIOCARBON® is a new product from the company Trenka Ges.m.b.H. in Vienna
In addition to BIOCARBON®, EUCARBON® Tablets which have been on the
market since 1909, are also available for the natural regulation of bowel function.
